It was Lachlan’s grandmother who first encouraged him to become a filmmaker, after seeing his family Christmas videos he made as a school student.
Serendipity then led Lachlan to discovering his passion for assistant directing. While studying film and TV, Lachlan offered to join his friend’s film crew to fill the vacant role of assistant director – and discovered that he loved the job.
It’s an important role for making sure creative vision becomes reality; scheduling shoots, organising crew and talent, and managing production flow. “I am responsible for making sure productions run to time and budget,” Lachlan said.
Favourite movie: Hot Fuzz. “It’s a hilarious film by my favourite director,” Lachlan says, a comedy which midway turns into a blistering action movie.
